Castelo de Medina Verdejo 2012 and new Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2012, have been ranked among the 100 Best Spanish Wines in the United Kingdom. Bodegas Castelo de Medina is the only winery in Castilla y León to be featured with two wines on this prestigious list.
The Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) Trade Office in the United Kingdom organised a new edition of the Wines From Spain Awards UK, an annual competition that recognises the best Spanish wines available in the English market.
Among the 107 wines rewarded with a spot on the list are two from Bodegas Castelo de Medina: Castelo de Medina Verdejo 2012 and new Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2012, a wine that was launched only this week.
Bodegas Castelo de Medina achieved the distinction of being the only winery in Castilla y León to get two of its wines on the list, as well as being a leading Rueda Designation of Origin Winery because of the four wines with the Rueda certificate on the list, two belong to the Villaverde de Medina winery.
Wines from Spain Awards UK 2013 analysed more than 700 Spanish wines from 50 different Designations of Origin by a jury comprising outstanding figures from the British wine world, led by Master of Wine, Tim Atkin.
The impact of the competition organised by ICEX doesn't stop there, because in the coming months a guide featuring all the award-winning wines will be published and several promotional activities will take place in the United Kingdom to promote the featured wines.
