The 100% Verdejo elaborated by Bodegas Castelo de Medina got this prestigious award in the XVIth edition of this contest that took place in Valladolid.
The Zarcillo Awards Board has published the results of the XVIth edition, the VIIIth international one, in which a wine from Bodegas Castelo de Medina has got once again a great result.
On this occasion, the awarded wine has been the Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2013, which has been awarded with a Golden Zarcillo in the prestigious contest, celebrated in Valladolid.
The Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2013 is a wine only elaborated with Verdejo grape variety, the most important one in Rueda Apellation of Origin, but is aged for three months on lees and then in French oak barrels for other three months.
The awarded wine, even if is only in its third vintage, has become a classic in the record books for the most important international contests, given that, for example, 2012 vintage was chosen Best Spanish wine in Germany by MUNDUS Vini jury, the great international wine contest that takes place every year in Germany.
To this XVIth edition of Zarcillo Awards, whose tastings took place in Valladolid from 29th of April to the 2nd of May, were submitted 1.807 wines from 385 wineries coming from 20 countries, which were judged by an international 73 members jury.
