New Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2012 has been named Best Spanish White Wine of the Year in the Mundus Vini 2013 competition, where it has won a Gold Medal.
The organisers of the competition, Mundus Vini 2013, announced the winners of the competition's 'special prizes' this week, one of which has been awarded to the new Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2012, which has been chosen as the Best Spanish White Wine of the Year 2013 by the competition jury.
The second vintage of this 100% verdejo wine which is aged for 3 months in the barrel was picked over the 879 wines in the same category. It also received a Special Prize, a Gold Medal, from the jury.
This is the second prize won by Castelo de Medina Verdejo Vendimia Seleccionada 2012, which was included in the list of the 100 Best Spanish Wines available in the United Kingdom within days of its launch.
Mundus Vini is Germany's 2013 leading wine competition. In 2013 more than 6,000 wines from 45 different countries were entered and judged by an expert international jury with 250 members.
