The wine elaborated by Castelo de Medina Winery has been chosen by the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wine and Spirits (WAWWJ) as the best wine in this grape variety in 2016.
Just like every year, the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wine and Spirits (WAWWJ) issued its worldwide wines ranking, including the best wines, the best wineries and the best producer countries in the world according to their results obtained in the main 80 international wine contests celebrated along 2015.
At this elaborated ranking, Castelo de Medina Sauvignon Blanc has been chosen as the Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World 2016, obtaining 195.30 points and surpassing the other 1,216 wines elaborated with this grape variety originating from Spain, France, Chile, New Zeeland or Australia among others.
This wine from the French variety elaborated by Castelo de Medina Winery, being part of the Rueda Designation of Origin, obtains this important award after accumulating along 2015 important international prizes such as the Gold Medal at the Vinalies Internationales in France, MUNDUS Vini in Germany or CINVE in Spain and some other medals at contests celebrated in Japan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, China or Bulgaria.
Apart from being the Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World, the wine elaborated by our winery has been also chosen as the seventeenth best wine in the World from the 680,930 appearing in the ranking and the eighth best wine in Spain from the 3,508 appearing in the classification.
This new recognition awarded by the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wine and Spirits is useful to consolidate the Castelo de Media Winery’s philosophy, which specially focuses in the Sauvignon Blanc variety, having more than 40 hectares from the total of 180 hectares of own vineyards owned by our winery.
